Who are we?

The Oaks Childcare Clubs CIC is a not-for-profit organisation (a Community Interest Company) providing breakfast clubs, after school clubs and a preschool. All of our clubs are a fun, safe place for children of different ages to play, relax and spend time together.

The Oaks was started nearly 20 years ago and has evolved from one club run by volunteer parents to a Community Interest Company running 9 clubs in 4 villages with over 300 children being looked after by a friendly, professional, and caring team of around 40 staff.

Wraparound clubs

Our breakfast and after school clubs are based in Mortimer, Silchester, Aldermaston and Pamber End.  At Mortimer St John’s Infant School we run Early Little Oaks and Little Oaks.  At Mortimer St Mary’s Primary, we run Early Big Oaks and Big Oaks.  At Silchester CofE School, we run Early Silchester Oaks and Silchester Oaks.  At Aldermaston CE Primary School we run Early Aldermaston Oaks and Aldermaston Oaks.  In September 2022, our newest after school club Priory Oaks opens at The Priory Primary School in Pamber End, North Hampshire.

Preschool

Mini Oaks Preschool runs every weekday during term-time, based at The Parish Centre, Burghfield St Mary’s Church. We are also to be found at our allotment in Burghfield Village and at Forest School. We offer excellent play and learning in a safe and caring environment for children from when they are 2 until when they go to school. Our team are highly experienced in child-led play and Early Years Education

Fun, safe childcare... child-led play

Every day during term-time a team of highly experienced staff set up activities, games, and crafts in each of our clubs to help children have fun, relax and play together, with a healthy breakfast or snack along the way.

Our staff are trained in ‘child-led play’, a method which develops children’s confidence and imagination as well as their friendships. In our school-based clubs, the children get to choose whether to play inside or outside in (almost!) any weather. At our preschool, in addition to indoor play (and an opportunity for a little nap or quiet time for the little ones), there is plenty of outdoor fun to be had, including regular trips to the local allotment by foot or to our Forest School in the Mini Oaks minibus.

Our experienced and caring staff really get to know your child and love seeing them have fun. Often the biggest complaint we get from parents is that their child won’t come home because they’re having too much fun!
